Ron Kern is a partner in BakerHostetler’s Intellectual Property Group and focuses his practice on patent strategy in the life sciences, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Ron’s practice encompasses the development of complex worldwide patent portfolios, patent prosecution and due diligence investigations. He assists clients in developing and executing strategies to maximize IP protection and mitigate IP risks throughout all stages of the development and commercialization of biological products.
Ron uses his extensive scientific and IP experience in the fields of biochemistry, immunology, molecular pharmacology, molecular biology, microbiology and genetics to assist clients in developing and executing strategies to obtain, protect and enforce their IP. He advises clients in a wide range of technologies, including antibody and protein therapeutics, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), vaccines, gene therapies, gene editing technologies, immunotherapies and diagnostics. Ron works closely with clients to evaluate their preclinical and clinical results to identify unique ways of expanding their IP protection, and performs freedom to operate and due diligence investigations throughout product development.
