Matthew Borah concentrates his practice on affordable housing matters, representing developers (both for-profit and nonprofit) in the acquisition, financing, development and construction of affordable multifamily properties. His experience includes transactions financed with low-income housing tax credits, tax-exempt bonds, HUD-insured multifamily loans, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac loan programs, HOME funds and other private and governmental funding sources. He also works on the development of workforce housing that qualify for property tax exemptions through public private partnerships and partnerships with qualified nonprofit organizations.

Clients turn to Matthew during the development process to draft and negotiate purchase and sale agreements, loan documents, partnership agreements, regulatory agreements and other documentation required as part of the development of affordable housing.

In addition, Matthew is skilled in commercial real estate matters, helping lenders and developers with financing, acquisition and development. This includes drafting and negotiating loan documents, reviewing due diligence materials and handling closing activities.
