Maria Carreón is a member of the BakerHostetler team serving as court-appointed counsel to the Securities Investor Protection Act (SIPA) Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC (BLMIS), an unprecedented recovery effort involving hundreds of actions.
Maria has participated in complex commercial litigation involving multitranche loans, financial fraud and secured transactions. Her in-depth understanding of legal practices and procedures is gained from extensive experience working in the legal industry prior to becoming an attorney and makes her a valuable addition to any team. She takes a keen interest in the background of each matter to diligently address legal issues and client concerns. Maria is very dedicated to the pro bono practice in the New York office and has worked on impact litigation and immigration matters with non-profit partners.
