Farrell Hochmuth is a partner in BakerHostetler’s Litigation Group, where she focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation and e-discovery counsel work. With the goal of helping clients manage massive amounts of electronic discovery and data, Farrell designs specific strategies for collection, storage and analysis in a manner that supports the most favorable outcome. Farrell has experience working with state and federal multidistrict litigation, including serving as discovery counsel to a major healthcare services company in litigations across the country related to distribution of controlled substances, and serving as discovery and regulatory counsel for the largest generator of electricity from natural gas and geothermal resources in the U.S., as a result of power failures during Winter Storm Uri.
For the last nine years, Farrell has served as counsel to Trustee Irving H. Picard for the SIPA liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC, in connection with Madoff’s Ponzi scheme. In that capacity, she managed multiple aspects of legal strategy, discovery and mediation in connection with the Trustee’s multibillion-dollar recovery effort, including litigating hundreds of adversary proceedings in Bankruptcy Court in New York and recovering the maximum amount possible for those who fell victim to Madoff's scheme.
Farrell also serves as counsel for a telecommunications industry leader in multimillion-dollar network deployments across the country involving government contracts, technology contracts, licensing and regulatory compliance.
Farrell was a summer associate with BakerHostetler in 2002, worked at the firm through her third year at University of Houston, joined the firm as an associate and was later named a partner. She is a member of the firm’s Electronic Discovery, Advocacy and Management (EDAM) team. Additionally, Farrell has led the Houston Women’s Committee since 2013 and sits on the firm’s national Women’s Committee.
In 1998, Farrell was selected as a U.S. Fulbright Scholar and completed her thesis on indigenous agriculture in Zimbabwe, Africa.
