Partner Alexander Reid has authored an opinion piece for Bloomberg Law, writing that existing "political censorship rules for nonprofits are complex, incoherent, and longstanding, due in large part to their placement in the tax law.”
In “Congress Should Expand Free Speech Rules for Tax-Exempt Groups,” he argues that recent concerns raised by House Republicans about the possible political activities of tax-exempt groups should prompt Congress to “recognize the important work that charities and social welfare organizations do for the public interest and loosen the free speech restrictions on them – not impose new ones.”
