Of Counsel Mike Semes served as a panelist for a session at the 42nd annual NYU School of Professional Studies Institute on State and Local Taxation (SALT) held December 11, 2023, in New York City. With recent court decisions demonstrating the difficulty of defining what is tangible, Semes’ presentation, titled “You Can’t Touch This – Tangible Personal Property – Is it Past Its Prime?”, discussed the risks and opportunities associated with differing definitions for various types of taxes, and suggested ways to increase certainty in a rapidly evolving business environment.
The annual gathering addresses all major areas of taxation, attracting attorneys, accountants, state tax officials, tax directors and tax managers with its high-level updates, practical advice and in-depth analysis of the latest developments and current issues in state and local taxation.
