A BakerHostetler team led by Partner Robb Adkins was recognized in the ALM Litigation Daily Litigator of the Week Runners-Up and Shout Outs column on Sept. 29.
They received a Shout Out for securing a sentence of no jail time for client John Porter. As vice president of waste-hauling firm Recology, Porter had paid $55,000 in bribes to the former chief of San Francisco’s Department of Public Works.
But the scheme predated Porter’s tenure at Recology, and the judge found that he had not benefitted from it as much as other defendants. He was sentenced to six months of house arrest, three years of probation and a $30,000 fine. (Prosecutors had requested a two-year prison term and a $100,000 fine.)
In addition to Adkins, the team included Partners Chardaie Charlemagne and Sam Camardo and Associate Andrew Serrao.
