Employment law is evolving in the face of broad uses of AI in the workplace. Employers must beware - staying apprised of these changes is critical in order to remain compliant and avoid costly litigation.

Join BakerHostetler Labor and Employment Partner Shareef Farag and Digital Asset and Data Management (DADM) Partner James Sherer, along with labor economists Paul White and Gurkan Ay of Resolution Economics, LLC, a firm specializing in investigations and analysis of AI, as they discuss the current laws governing AI, employers' use of emerging and increasingly prevalent tools, and best practices to approach the use of AI given audit fairness and inherent bias issues.

The panel will cover the broad scope of AI challenges and opportunities as they relate to employment law, including the current trends and issues, the types of lawsuits being filed, and what challenges client organizations have already pinpointed. We will also discuss issues related to employers' compliance with AI laws, including Title VII, the EEOC’s guidance and activity on identifying discrimination in the context of hiring, the latest updates on New York’s local law 144, and what is on the horizon for other states and employers this year and beyond. We will also review the various approaches that employers can take to reduce risk, conduct disparate impact analyses, address the value of bringing in outside counsel, consider risks associated with algorithmic and automated decision tools, and manage AI in a compliant manner today and into the future.

Speakers: Shareef Farag, James A. Sherer, Paul White - Resolution Economics, Gurkan Ay - Resolution Economics
