<p>Under the auspices of Partner and Penn State alumnus Ed Beckwith, the BakerHostetler Washington, D.C., office hosted students from Penn State’s School of Public Policy for their annual Career Day. While in Washington, the students held multiple site visits with Penn State alumni who work as policy professionals. They also had an opportunity to engage in small group discussions and one-on-one career exploration sessions with more than 20 Penn State alumni from federal agencies, think tanks, consulting firms and other policy-oriented organizations.</p>

<p>Partner Nathan Ware attended the groundbreaking ceremony for H.O.P.E., which stands for Healing, Opportunities, Partnership and Empowerment, a campus that will provide treatment options for children who need intense care for medical, mental health, behavioral health and/or trauma-related issues. Per an April 11, 2025, article on the Cuyahoga County website titled “Cuyahoga County, The Centers, Break Ground on H.O.P.E. Campus,” the groundbreaking celebrated the beginning of major capitol renovations that will transform the current Cleveland Christian Home into the new facility. Ware worked on a very complicated tax credit financing with client The Centers for the emergency shelter.</p>

<p>BakerHostetler’s bipartisan Federal Policy team has been named a Top-Performing Lobbying Firm by Bloomberg Government – which ranks firms annually based on business performance, client retention and revenue – for the seventh consecutive year.</p>



<p>The Federal Policy team provides a full range of government affairs, public policy and lobbying services to clients of all sizes. The team is led by Partner and former Republican Congressman Peter Roskam, who served 12 years in the House and as chairman of the Ways and Means Tax Policy Subcommittee during the writing and enactment of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in 2017. Former Democratic Congressman Heath Shuler serves on the team as a senior advisor, in addition to several former senior congressional staff members.</p>

<p>Partners Theodore Kobus and Craig Hoffman have been named to Cybersecurity Docket’s Incident Response 50, a list of the 50 best data breach response lawyers and first point of contact for companies experiencing a cyberattack or other data security incident. It is the seventh and third time, respectively, that the two have been so honored. Kobus was selected for the list in 2016, 2019, 2020 and 2022 to 2024. Hoffman was named to the list in 2016 and 2024.</p>



<p>Those selected for the list must meet the following three requirements:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Must be in the private sector for at least the past two years</li>



<li>Must have a practice that is dedicated primarily to data breach response work</li>



<li>Must be attorneys vs. accountants, economists, etc.</li>
</ul>



<p>Honorees were recognized at the Incident Response Forum Masterclass 2025, April 22, 2025, in Washington, D.C.</p>
